Directly outside the oval room on the third floor, the evidence of structural deterioration becomes frighteningly evident. One of the great problems with wooden floors in buildings like this is that there is very little to tell when they are stable enough to hold your weight or when they have rotted out below the surface and are just about to fall through like this. The refreshment room is visible beyond the collapse, and in the rubble one can make out several small fake flowers as well as one large light stand that must have been used for performances.
This location is a chapter in my book, Abandoned America: The Age of Consequences.
