This gathering room on the right side of the first floor shows what I initially believed to be scorching from a fire that I estimated must have occurred at least several years prior to my visit, based on the size of the areas of plaster and paint that have fallen off since then. I now believe that the room itself was painted black, but there is still indication of some sort of fire in the back of the room by the door, where the red trim is blackened. Through the doorway in the back of the frame the entrance I went through is visible.
This location is a chapter in my book, Abandoned America: The Age of Consequences.
